Wise Guys Book Review #FlyBy #giveaway #WiseGuys

Pin It Now!

Are you surrounded by a house full of men like myself? How do they gain their wisdom as they age into adulthood? Sometimes the wisdom and the influence does not come from within their home, they sometimes have to seek guidance from Men from their outside world, for my middle son this has been in the form a friendship from an unlikely source. My 17 soon to be 18 year old son's best friend is his mentor from down the street who just so happens to be 65 years old. I thank God for him everyday. You see my husband has some mental health issues that have prevented my husband and sons' father to be the role model that he should be for his sons. This saddens me sometimes but then I look at all of the outside influence my kids can get from Men that they look up to and whom I can trust to make a good influence on them to help guide them into Faithful, Godly men!

So when I got the opportunity to review, Wise Guys, unlocking the hidden wisdom from the men around you I knew this would be the perfect book for my middle son for his Graduation from High School(homeschool).

I want my boys to know where else to get influence and wisdom from, it truly is all around them they just may not always know how to find it or where to look for it.
In Wise Guys Kent talks about things that are hard for him, such as asking for directions, reading assembly instructions, and the biggest one asking for help! The first chapter starts as Kent was just 17, the same age as my Alyx. Perfect start to this book since I am giving it to him. This chapter is all about figuring yourself out, direction of career and other stuff. Each chapter has true to his life stories and directions to go through life stages, each chapter has Questions to Consider that are quite thought provoking. There are talk about lessons he learned as he edged his way through adulthood. Valuable lessons and not always learned the right or easy way. Life is tough there is no doubt about that. There is talk about Grace and Prayer and a bunch of other things but I do not want to give the book away.

A little about the book

For guys, more than ever, it’s a confusing world. Your GPS doesn’t offer any maps showing how to get to the point of wisdom — and who likes asking for directions anyway?
But there are ways to get that guidance you need. The answers may be all around you, in the form of guys you already know. Wise guys. More experienced guys. Better-traveled guys. Could there be ways to tap into their invaluable knowledge without enduring dull lectures or taking pages of notes?

Kent Evans has surrounded himself with these wise guys. They have shown him all the back roads on the way to wisdom. With a great deal of humor and an endless supply of stories, he wants to show you how to gather life-enriching truth from the guys in your own circle.

In closing, I found this book delightful as well as full of honest to goodness knowledge and helpful hints for a young man or an old man alike. You know you can teach an old dog new tricks. I am looking forward to passing this book to my son and hopefully he will share with his younger and older brothers and maybe their dad too. Or maybe I will just pick up everyone a copy of their very own, I highly recommend this book as a gift for the man in your life, Grad gift, newlywed or new dad gift or anything in between. Father's Day is coming up quick and this would be a great addition to the gift you already have planned for the special man in your life. Available in June!
