I was given the opportunity to review Journeys of Faithfulness from Apologia, written by Sarah Clarkson. Now although this is geared as a devotional or Bible study type book for adolescent girls and their Moms, as a Mom of all boys I was honored to be given this opportunity to go through this book. I am planning on giving it to my oldest niece and my Sister for Christmas.

Journeys of Faithfulness is written for girls and their moms to read about the challenges some of the women in the Bible faced, such as Ruth, Esther and Mary. The author takes us on a journey to deepen our relationship with Christ while presenting us with historical fictional stories about each of these women. The author uses the details we know from our Bible stories and enhances them with her insight into what the characters may have felt or experienced while going through their trials and tribulations.

This 232 page paper back book is not only full of the stories it tells, but there is space for journaling, the Author relays her own feelings and events in her life, gives the girls questions to think over  so that the young women reading this book may record their own thoughts and feelings about what they have just experienced while reading the stories of these courageous women in Biblical history, and share some thoughts of how they may have experienced similar events in their own lives that mimic those of the women in the Bible.

Not only are there spots to journal but devotional entries throughout the book that will impact the girls spiritually as well. Devotionals are a tremendous way for anyone to grow their relationship with God. A healthy relationship with God is important for all of us, but especially so for our young people that are growing into young adults. This is a critical time in their lives and development and a strong relationship with God is crucial to be a Christ centered adult.

Although this book is geared towards adolescent girls 12 and older and is presented in a way that is wonderful for Mother and Daughter to experience it together, I enjoyed this book all on my own. I really could relate to the women in the stories and it helped strengthen my own relationship with Christ. I often find myself in the busyness of life wandering from having God the center or our family and my life. Apologia always helps me put things back in perspective. I also think this would make for a excellent choice for a woman's Bible study or a Mom's group to put together a book group or Bible study. I personally am going to suggest it to our homeschool co-op group. This would make for a great class selection for our co-op this coming Spring.

If you want your daughter, or niece or just yourself to have a strong foundation in Faith then this is definitely something you should invest in. The book sells directly from Apologia's website for $13.00, be sure to check out all of the other wonderful resources Apologia has to offer while you are there.
