Prefense Foaming Hand Sanitizer Review

Pin It Now!

I am not sure about you but my kids seem to get themselves into predicaments when there is no water and soap available to wash their hands. I have tried many hand sanitizers and most leave mine and my kids hands feeling just as dirty as they were before we used the sanitizer.
Recently I was given the opportunity to give Prefense a foaming hand sanitizer a try with my kids.  I have carried it in my purse everywhere we have gone. We have used the entire bottle and we will definitely be ordering some more. This hand sanitizer is not like most, it foams up when dispensed and leaves your hands feeling clean and silky smooth. The best thing about Prefense is that is Alcohol Free and lasts all day long without having to add more each time you wash your hands.
Prefence is available in the 1.5oz size bottle like I got to review or a full 8 oz bottle and now you can even purchase Prefense Wipes in a canister.
The prices are as follows
1.5oz bottle $6.99
8 oz bottle $16.99
Canister of Wipes $6.99

Friends, Fireworks and Fun times

Pin It Now!   To say last week was stressful for our family would be the understatement of the century. So by the end fo the week, we were all needing a relaxing break away from "Life" in a major way. A friend of mine won tickets and a parking pass to our city fireworks and generously gave them to me and my family to use. She also told us where to get additional free passes if we needed more. It also happened to be Dave and I's 16th wedding anniversary. Usually we go out to Dinner but with everything going on that was not in the plans this year, so we asked our good friends Sean and Sue if they and their 7 kids wanted to join us on a trip to the fireworks. They were happy to join us and we all were looking forward to a relaxing night out with friends.
We packed the coolers and loaded everyone up in our friend's big van and were on our way. The kids always have a blast together and this was no exception. We love spending time with this wonderful family, and feel that God has blessed us with this wonderful friendship.
We had such a fun night even though it was unseasonably cold, I had a hoodie and jeans on and I was still cold. That never happens this time of year, it is nuts but we had a blast nonetheless.
Thank you Heather for the opportunity and Thank You Sean and Sue and Crew for joining us on an unforgettable evening of fun.

TOS 2011-2012 Intermediate Planner Review

Pin It Now!

When we started homeschooling 2 years ago, I started my organizing with a teacher's planner from the Teacher's store in our area, but what I quickly found was that it did not meet our needs and had spots for 30 students when I only have 3. There was so much  I wanted to include, but no place to add them in. The planner I had purchased was strictly for classes and grades. I wanted so much more out of a planner and did not know where to find one.
Then I came upon The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, not only is the magazine a wealth of information for homeschoolers at any level, but they also sell curriculum and the best Homeschool planner on the planet.
Their Homeschool Planners, are not your typical planner, they include something for every aspect of homeschooling and life. The unique thing about their E-Book planner is you can type your information right into it on the computer before you even print it. If you would rather you can also purchase your planner on a CD, and as with the download form you can edit the CD version as well. No matter which form you chose to purchase your planner in, the results are the same, a much easier planner to use for your entire family, this proved especially true for my family as it was much easier for my kids to read my writing. My kids can also type info right into it and therefor it is much easier for me to read as well. My 2 youngest boys have Asperger's Syndrome and one of their biggest delays is fine motor skills, which affects their ability to write legibly and this is a constant source of frustration on both sides, theirs and mine. This planner will definitely help us in that area. They have fantastic pages for the kids to use, like book report pages, Bible Memorization, Goal sheets and so much more.
I was recently asked to review the 2011-2012 Intermediate Planner which is geared for 5th - 8th graders.
I have already begun to start using it for activities for the Summer, like the daily planner sheet that lists the top 3 things you need to get done each day of the current week. My other favorite feature is the customizable printable calendar, here I can edit our calendar at any given moment and print it out and post it on the wall for the family.

In Alyx's opinion his favorite section is the "Books Read this Year" section as he loves to read and this is a valuable way for him to keep track of his books and he can go in and add new books at any time.

Taylor's favorite is the Science activities that are included, his all time fav is the Pond Dipping Unit Study that we have begun working on for our Summer Enrichment project.

I could not however pick just one, some of my highlights are all the Bible sheets, where else can you get a planner with a Biblical approach as well as functional all rolled in one. My second was the Sign Language charts, our church has a Deaf Church as well and there are many opportunities for my family to interact with the deaf members of our congregation, and my kids and I are very excited to brush up on our Sign Language this Summer. So when Fall rolls around we can communicate with our deaf friends without stumbling.

If you are struggling to find the perfect planner for your homeschool family, then look no further than The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, there is a planner to fit every family's needs.  The planners vary in prices the one I reviewed, The Intermediate Planner is $19.00 for the E-book and $24.00 for the CD version.  Whether you have little ones, Middle ones like me or High School students you are sure to be pleasantly surprised with the content of whatever planner you chose to fit your family's dynamics. There is also the Special Needs planner for those of you with special students that require unique aspects to your planning needs. Lastly there is the The Homeschool Planner and is bursting with pages for all of your homeschool needs, and with the addition of 175 newly added forms there is bound to be countless forms that  can help organize your homeschool classroom and fmaily life for only $39.00.
While you are checking out the planners be sure to investigate all of the other wonderful downloadable homeschool content available for purchase. Be sure not to miss their Homeschool Dollar Store that is just exploding with deals that are absolute must haves in any homeschool classroom.

I recieved a FREE EBOOK of the Intermediate Planner, I was no compensated in any way and the opinions are my honest thoughts about the above product. Receiving the Free Planner did not influence the outcome of my review at all.

God has a plan, we just don't always know what it is at the time!

Pin It Now!   My family has been through a lot lately and everyday I seem to be saying I cannot handle one more bad thing happening and then BAM. In this last week my family has endured my husband being in the hospital for 5 days and off work for 3 weeks this month, then the day he came home from the hospital my brakes went out on my van at a red light of a busy intersection. THANK GOD my hubby is home and on the mend and nobody was injured in a wreck as we stopped just in time. THANK GOD for awesome friends who come through in our time of need. Our friend Sean fixed our breaks yesterday. We thought life was starting to turn around for us and then BAM again. I went out with my Mom last night for dessert with some ladies and on our way home I got a panicked call from Alyx my almost 13 yr old that he had to call 911. I immediately thought of my Grandma who will be 91 on Tuesday and then to my Hubby who just came home from the hospital the evening before and then to my disbelief my son told me our Garage was on fire.
Now I really thought my son was exaggerating but I hung up and called my oldest son and he told me everyone and our dog had to be evacuated from our house and they were starting to saw our garage door open and there were many firetrucks at our house and to get home as quick as possible. So my Mom called my Dad to go over and help and we raced there in what took like hours but was really only a few minutes.
When I pulled down my street I saw at least 6 rescue and firetrucks and neighbors standing on the sidewalk all the way down the block. I parked several houses down which is as close as I could get and ran all the way to the house. The fire has been put out and they were wrapping up the hoses. A firefighter friend from our co-op was one of the fireman on duty and he actually cut our door apart, Alyx thought this was cool because Mr. K was one of his teachers from more than one class at Enrich. I was mortified. The Garage is a total loss including everything in it.
It is amazing how as I sat up all night thinking of things that were in the garage how much we really had in there. Never in a million years did we ever thing something like this would happen to us. Although I get to THANK GOD again, as it was only the garage and nobody was hurt. Most things can be replaced some cannot, but at least my Family is safe. Today I realized that when it comes down to it God, Family and Friends are really the only things that matter. We have our FAITH, our home, for the most part our health and everything else is just stuff.
So tonight when you put your little ones to bed hug them a little tighter and say and extra prayer of thanks for all things important in your life.

Matthew 6:19-21 ESV
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Simple Woman's Daybook Journal Entry for June 21st 2011

Pin It Now!

Outside my window... A dreary first day of Summer, we are having spotty rain and at some points it is rather hard.

I am thinking...I am not sure I can handle one more thing going wrong anytime soon. My hubby has been in the hospital since Friday and we are not sure when he is coming home and today my brakes went out on my Van.

I am thankful...for a couple of things today. First and foremost I am thankful that my Hubby is being well taken care of and they are finding the right meds to help him. Secondly I am thankful for awesome friends that God has blessed my family with, one of which offered to fix my brakes for me tomorrow morning. "When one door closes, another one opens." Lastly I am thankful that inspite of the chaos lately in our lives the kids are handling it all better than expected and they are off to VBS this week from 915-1230 so I get a bit of a much needed welcome break. I am enjoying every minute of it.

From the learning rooms...(if this applies)Nothing it is Summer Vacation and we are takinga few weeks completely off.

In the kitchen...Not much at the moment but My Ball Canning Party Kit came so I am sure Alyx and I will be playing with it later on.

I am wearing...
Jean capris and a lavender plaid shirt and my tennis shoes.

I am creating...Not a whole lot at the moment but will be working on some things soon.

I am going...No where special this week, just playing taxi for the kids and some friends to go back and forth to VBS

I am wondering...when life will quiet down for us again. I know GOD has a plan and I am actually beginning to see part of the plan but the whole brake thing has me stumped??

I am reading...Plugged in Parent

I am hoping...my hubby will be home by Friday, it is our 16th Anniversary and I want to be able to celebrate with him.

I am looking forward to...the rest of this week having the mornings to myself. I am catching up on laundry and household chores that have been put to the wayside since David got sick.

I am hearing...K-love on the computer, it is the one thing that keeps my spirits up right now.

Around the house...kind of crazy and it is driving me crazy in the process but it is getting a little better each day.

I am pondering...moving my kids bedrooms around again we need a change.

One of my favorite things...is having all of my kids home everyday now that is Summer, when Nick is in school during the year it makes me feel like we are leaving him out of things and I do not like it.

A few plans for the rest of the week:VBS, getting brakes fixed, visiting my hubby and our Anniversary

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
