In my life this week…I am finally feeling well again after a long month of being sick. I am also going with my Red Hat Sisters tonight to the Detroit Princess Cruise for the Red Hat Society's 13th Birthday Bling Cruise sponsered by the Detroit Area Queen's Council. Should be a blast. Tomorrow we are all going to the Women's Expo in Novi, so it is a bsuy week for me.

In our homeschool this week…We struggled to get back to normal after being so sporadic the last few weeks with my being sick but all in all we did pretty well. Check out my review of Curiosity Files from The Schoolhouse Store over at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, it is actually part of my application to be part of the next years Homeschool Crew.  We enjoyed it so much and look forward to more, we also went on a fieldtrip I will explain more below.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…We went the The Detroit Historical Museum with our homeschool co-op yesterday we had fun and it was as neat as I remembered from when I was a kid. Co-op is finished for the school year but we do have Recognition night next week and then park days will start up for the late Spring and Summer and maybe some fieldtrips as well.

My favorite thing this week was…Our field trip to the Museum

What’s working/not working for us…All this rain is what is not working, we are  feeling very cooped up, we want to get out and start Geocaching for the season. We are trudging along with 2 weeks of our regular curriculum left for the school year

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…We are searching for a new Math curriculum for next year and are leaning towards Math U See and Life with Fred. What do you and your family use for middle school Math?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…Our Fieldtrip from yesterday, the boys in a Model T

Choosing math is hard. We went with Math Mammoth which is similar to Singapore but much cheaper. lol I have heard a lot of people like Math U See.

We've used Math U See from the beginning. We were a little behind and will be finishing up pre-algebra sometime this summer and starting Algebra 1 in the fall for her 10th grade year. Math is not my daughter's favorite subject by any means - but MUS has worked well for her so we're sticking with it. Plan to do Geometry in 11th grade...and their Stewardship course her Senior year.

Glad you are feeling better! Hope all goes well with the TOS crew app! This year was my first on the crew and we loved it!

We use SAXON math and love it because it instills a strong work ethic in your children. If you don't start your child in fourth grade though, it may be hard for them to get used to it. In fact, we switched one year to Teaching Textbooks and my daughter wanted to return to SAXON the following year. Many people use MUS and TT though and like it.
