Simple Woman's Daybook Journal Entry for March 29th 2011

Pin It Now!

I have not done one of these in a few weeks, but I am still not feeling well so simple it is today.

Outside my window...Abundant Sunshine, Spring is on its way.

I am thinking...that I just want to be well again, I have been so sick this Winter and it is just lingering on and on.

I am thankful for...God leading my Mom to Church with us on Sunday, it is the first time she has gone to Church on a Sunday that I can ever remember, my Mom has been a weddings, funerals, and baptisms kind of church go-er

Fom the learning rooms...(if this applies)The boys playing a Math game

From the kitchen...Silence, but not for long it is almost lunch time.

I am wearing...my polka dot fleece PJ pants and a scrapbooking Tshirt

I am creating...some swap cards for the downline meeting in Ohio in 2 weeks as well as a new apron made from jean overalls I will be sure to post a pic when they are complete

I am going...to Bible Study tonight, we just started a new Series last week called EACH I love it already. I am hoping it turns Detroit in the right direction.

I am reading...What the Bible says about Love,Marriage and Sex by David Jeremiah

I am hoping...to get together with friends this weekend to Stamp.

I am hearing...K-Love on the computer

Around the house...Things are nice and orderly, as Mondays are our Home Blessing Day and things are always made to be in tip top shape to start our week off on the right foot.

One of my favorite things is.... Spending lazy days in our PJS while we do school. It is a definite perk of homeschooling the kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Small Group Bible Study tonight, tomorrow taking my parents dog to get weighed my car is the only car Dakotah can still get into and even mine is difficult for her, Dinner at church tomorrow night and Royal Rangers. Thursday is Enrich, we missed last week due to my being sick and Alyx was still not better yet either. Friday a whole lot of nothing, Saturday Lunch with the Girls and hopefully stamping at night with friends and Sunday Church and Weekly dinner at my parents.

The pictures for thought that I am sharing today is..... A picture of the boys with their trophies from RR Pinewood Derby on Saturday this past weekend. Alyx placed 1st in his category and also took 1st overall and Taylor placed 2nd in his Category after a race off because he was Tied for 1st. It was a great race

The contest you will link to will be open from March 21-April 1. We will announce one winner a day the week of April 11-15.

Now I am going to share the story of my volunteers that have influenced my family in a BIG way.

I was asked to share with you the most influential volunteer in my family's life. Now, I am in constant contact with many volunteers in our day to day life, but when I sat down to think about this post I had no trouble coming up with the same family over and over that volunteer in many aspects of my family's life. We have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams to have come to know and become very good friends with Sean and Sue. They are anything but the typical all American family. The are the proud parents of 7 children, a wonderful daughter who attends college out of state and then next in line are their triplet boys who are almost 11 years old, next comes twin boys who just turned 9 yrs old, and last but certainly not least is their princess Grace who is 5.
We met Sean and Sue when we joined the Adult Small Group Bible Study through our Church, we were fairly new to the Church and did not know too many people yet, the youth pastor put us in touch with Sean and Sue and explained that we had a lot in common. We had also signed up for the Church Bowling League and come to find out they bowled with us as well. So as we started bowling and small group we came to get to know them fairly well. They homeschool their kids and their boys have become very good friends with our boys as well.  We found out that Sue likes to scrapbook and now thanks to me lol stamp as well. They have also included us in one of their favorite past-times, Nascar. We have joined a fantasy Nascar league with them as well as some other friends from Church. Sean encouraged my hubby to volunteer his time with the Royal Rangers as well and this has truly helped my husband come out of his shell.
They not only host Bible Study at their home every week, but they both volunteer their Wednesdays as well by teaching Royal Rangers and Daisies in Missionettes as well. They go above and beyond what anybody could ask and they are there to lend a helping hand to any friend in need as well.
Sue will drop anything she is doing when a friend calls in crisis and needs a prayer buddy to pray right there on the phone with them, I have been the lucky recipient of her prayers more than once. Sean will drop anything and come lend a hand when someone needs his handyman skills, recently my car had some issues and Sean came over and fixed my car much to my relief it was a small problem that would have cost me a lot of money if I had it towed like I originally intended, and he would not accept money for even the parts. I was so overwhelmed by his generosity that I was moved to tears.
My children have been touched as well by just having them as positive adult role models in their life many times a week and I could not ask for better friends for my children than Sean and Sue's kids, they befriended my youngest son Taylor and helped him feel welcome in a new situation even when other kids were not so accepting, Sean stepped in then as well and made the other children realize they were not acting very Christian and were being cruel. He is very well respected by all that come into contact with him. I have never run into anyone that had anything negative to say about either Sean or Sue.
Sean recently gave up his Saturday to Teach my children as well as his how to build a computer piece by piece, took the time to explain each component and had patience beyond measure for all of the kids questions as well as Dave and I's.
Words cannot even begin to express my gratitude to Sean and Sue, they have done more for my family than they will ever know. They are the friends everyone hopes to have and we have been blessed beyond belief to have had them touch our lives in the way they have.
Next time you are given the opportunity to volunteer think about the impact you can have in a family's life like mine. The rewards are endless and lifelong lasting.

Disclaimer:: In exchange for this post my volunteer and I will be receiving products from Carolina Pad and also an upgraded membership to volunteerspot.com
This in no way influenced my post and I did not have to write this post and endorse this contest I did so of my own free will. All thoughts conveyed in this post are my own throught and opinions.

Wordless Wednesday Learning Fun with friends

Pin It Now!  Our good friends Sue and Sean have 7 kids, 6 of which are still at home, 5 of which are boys and are very good friends of Taylor's. Well Sean invited us over a couple Saturdays ago to teach all the boys how to build a computer from scratch. It was way cool and very informative, even I learned something. Thanks Mr. Sean for teaching us some neat things about computers.

Pin It Now!

Have you ever wanted to ask God certain questions but were afraid to ask? Well now you can read those questions in this wonderful book written just for Women by a wonderful female writer Marcia Ford.
Written from a woman's perspective you will get answers to all of your sought after questions, this book is perfect for those wanting to deepen their faith or those looking for answers who have not yet given their life to Christ.

Here is what the publisher has to say:

Book Description

A front row seat to a fascinating conversation with God, Jesus, and other biblical characters answering important questions women have regarding life and faith.

A Conversation with God for Women allows readers a one-on-one dialogue with God, Jesus, and other important biblical characters as they respond to questions and concerns relevant to the Christian faith. The often challenging questions address issues and tensions specifically felt by women. Each answer, designed for both believers and seekers, is based on Scripture and written with the warmth and intimacy of a Heavenly Father relating to His child.

Categories and sample questions include:

*God, why don't You just reveal Yourself? *Jesus, why was a virgin birth necessary? *The Bible, what can it teach women? *Life, what about women in ministry? *Prayer, can it really make a difference? *Relationships, how can we trust after betrayal? *Good and evil, how can they coexist?

This is a wonderful book full of questions and answers, it would be a great book for any woman looking for those answers from God. This book would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift for that special lady in your life, Wife, Mother, Daughter and the list goes on.

Pin It Now!

One thing I can count on is Adventures in Odyssey producing quality programs, books and audio that I can feel confident in letting my children have unlimited access to. We own most of the Audio CDs the kids love listening to the "old time radio shows" that is what it makes you feel like at least. And let me tell you they draw you in like as if you were actually there. There books are no different. When I saw there was a new series of books coming out my kids and I were super excited. Adventures in Odyssey books are books  that your kids will not want to put down until they have read them cover to cover.
Well I am here to tell you this new series is no exception.
The first book in the new series The Imagination Station  presented by Adventures in Odyssey is "Voyage with the Vikings".
Here is a synopsis written by the publisher:
While visiting Mr. Whittaker at Whit's Soda Shoppe, Beth and Patrick find a mysterious letter in the Imagination Station requesting a Viking sunstone. The letter is old and says that someone named Albert will be imprisoned if the sunstone isn't found. Mr. Whittaker sends cousins Patrick and Beth to Greenland circa 1000. On their quest for the sunstone, the cousins meet Vikings Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson--and find the sunstone as they join Leif on his first voyage to North America. But the adventure is just beginning, for when they return to Mr. Whittaker's workshop with the sunstone, there is another note waiting for them, requesting a silver goblet.

Join Patrick and Beth as they continue their travel to various lands and time in the Imagination Station book series.
If you have a hard time getting your kids to read or if your kids love reading and you are just looking for something new to give them some quality adventures in books then this series is for you and your kids. Be sure to check out this one and more upcoming titles that I hope to be able to share with you. Also check out all the Adventures in Odyssey products you will not be sorry, as you see your kids get so excited to learn so much without needing a TV. Wordy Wednesday Family Fun

Pin It Now!    A couple weeks ago the kids had Winter Break at the Local Public school which means Nick and Ashley had no school so therefor we did not do school either as we follow Nick's schedule to keep the peace amongst the HS crowd here at home.
We started our adventure on that Friday hoping to end up at the zoo but the somewhat warm weather was very very windy and turning to cold for Taylor and Rayven so we kept on trucking and ended up at Great Lakes Crossing and lunched at our favorite burger joint Johnny Rockets, the kids had so much fun.
Nick yawning as we dragged him out of bed at 10 am, how could I??
                                            Discussing the menu options
Rayven is waiting to order LOL
Yummy chicken tenders and bottomless fries,it was worth the wait.
                                           Deep in conversation!!
Nick finally realized I was taking pictures so he hit the deck!!
Waitress!! I am ready to order now!
                                               Too much excitement for Alyx.
