Ishine Bible NLT review

Pin It Now!
The most treasured possession of everyone in our home is their "special" Bible hand picked just for them, Taylor has been looking to get a new Bible one that fits his personality a little more, he has been using a  children's Bible up until now, but felt he was too old for it now that he is 11 years old.
When I was offered the opportunity to review the Ishine Bible for Tweens I knew this was just the thing we had been looking for. I did not tell Taylor ahead of time, when it arrived I called him into me and presented him with his new Bible he was so excited and the icing on the cake was the teen playing the electric guitar embossed on the leather cover. This had Taylor written all over it.
We both love the fact that it is NLT it is so much easier for the kids to follow and understand and it is a smaller more compact Bible making it easy for him to hold onto and carry with him to church and Royal Rangers.
Here is what the publisher has to say about this wonderful Bible written just for Tweens

This compact for tweens brings together the popular Christian tween brand iShine with the clearly understandable New Living Translation of the Bible and Bible features to build tweens’ faith. Full-color pages inside focus on one of the central themes of iShine: V.I.P. –Value, Identity, and Purpose. Tweens will see how they are valued by God, how their identity is found in Jesus, and the purpose that they have because of this. The iShine Bible answers questions relating to many of the issues that tweens face with a tween-friendly index. It also features articles on having a relationship with Jesus and growing in faith.

iShine is a tween brand that combines music (CD, and the iShine Live touring event), TV (iShine Connect Available on DVD through Provident/Sony), a web community (http://www.ishinelive.com/), and other media, including DVDs of the iShine Live concerts and “Sermonettes” by one of the hosts of the TV and concert tour, Paige Armstrong.

If you have a special someone in your life that deserves a Bible to call their own but is too old for a children's Bible but not old enough for a teen or adult Bible then this is a must have for you to purchase. I am sure they will feel delighted and special to be the proud owner of their very own Word of God that is written just for their age group.

Wordless Wednesday "This is one of the reasons I love Homeschooling"

Pin It Now! I love that when the kids wake up early and come down for cartoons and fall back asleep I don't have to wake them up, we just do school when they get up on their  own. Even the Kitty was being lazy this morning.

PUJOLS more than the game Book Review

Pin It Now!

Around here with so many boys in the house Baseball and other sports are always a running conversation around here and one of my hubby's favorite Baseball players is Albert Pujols so when I was presented with the opportunity to review his book I was so excited to be able to get it for my hubby. My hubby has only recently taken a liking to reading and I knew this would be a wonderful opportunity to strengthen his love for reading good quality Christian books by him being able to read about his favorite ball player and now that he is finished reading it he has passed it onto our middle son to read as well.
Here is what the publisher has to say about this wonderful book:
A powerful story of the athleticism and strong faith of Albert Pujols, one of the all-time greatest baseball players.

It is for good reason that Albert Pujols routinely tops the list of the greatest players in modern Major League Baseball. Among all Major Leaguers who ever played the game, Pujols already ranks in the top twenty in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and adjusted on-base plus slugging. He is simply one of the greatest offensive players in baseball history.

But when the adulation comes his way, Pujols points people to an even greater hero, directing them to Christ. “At the end of the day,” he says, “as long as I glorify him, and those 45,000 people know who I represent every time I step out on the field, that’s what it’s about. It’s about representing God.” This book will satisfy MLB fans who like baseball slathered in amazing stats, and it will shed light on the faith that makes it all possible.

My husband thoroughly enojed reading this book and getting to know his favorite ball players story of his walk with God as well as how God has influenced his game of ball and also the Game of Life.
I highly recommend this for the sports fan in your life, it will give them new insight to the man behind the jersey.

Simple Woman's Daybook Journal Entry for February 8th 2011

Pin It Now!

Outside my window...Lots of Snow and cold, I am starting to get cabin fever.

I am thinking...about this upcoming weekend away with my Red Hat Friends we are going to a Glitzy Party at a hotel with many groups. I have lots to do to prepare

I am thankful for...doctors and medicine, I was so sick last week up until yesterday, even today I am not 100% but starting to feel myself.

From the learning rooms...(if this applies)The boys working on their Spelling and Bible Memory Verses

From the kitchen...The sound of my hubby making his morning coffee, he is off today

I am wearing...blue jeans and a pink butterfly t-shirt

I am creating...some goody boxes  for the girls this weekend for Valentine's Day to take with us.

I am going...to Bible Study tonight, we have not had it in 3 weeks due to weather and host family sickness and I have missed it so.

I am reading...The Heart Mender

I am hoping...for a peaceful week this week

I am hearing...the neighbor running snow blowers, he tests and fixes lawn and garden equipment

Around the house...Things are nice and orderly, as Mondays are our Home Blessing Day and things are always made to be in tip top shape to start our week off on the right foot.

One of my favorite things...is having my hubby home to do school with us during the week.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Not a whole lot, Bible Study tonight, tomorrow waiting on the cable man to fix the cable line in the boys room, we moved their TV to the other side of their room yesterday and now their cable is not working, thank goodness it did not affect the Internet and phone as that is all run from up there as well, tomorrow night, Family meal and fellowship at church and then Royal Rangers for the boys and Dave and my weekly time with Nick. Thursday Enrich, we did not have co-op last week due to the "blizzard" the church we meet at had no heat. Friday is bowling for Dave and I and then I am off Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. Sunday Evening is the Annual Missions dinner at church so we will all be attending that, they have a separate one for kids, teens and adults. Something for everyone.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...Alyx enjoying using the snow blower, and unfortunately since we got it he has had plenty of opportunity to use it. He even used it to make some spending money by helping some neighbors with their snow who were shoveling.

It's a wonderful life

Pin It Now! Last night was so fun, Nick and I had a night out just the 2 of us we went shopping for some new clothes for him at the mall went to Olga's for dinner and then headed to the movies to see The Social Network. That was a great movie and it was cool because there were only two other people in the theater with us. It was so nice to get to hang out with him just yhr 2 of us. I have been thinking lately how in less than 4 years he will be away at hopefull MSU. He is on the right path and has known that yhis is where he has wanted to go to school since first grade, it sounds funny that a six year old would know that back then, but he did and still has his focus on MSU.
He has the greatest girlfriend and knows what he wants in life and I have always admired that about him. He is driven.
Today the younger kids and I went to stock our fridge and freezer in light of the impending blizzard. While we were there we rdplaced our dead microwave, picked out new decor for the bathroom so I will probsble paint hhat tomorrow and decorate it thr kids picked it out I will post pics when it is all done. It is going to look cute as can be.
The one thing I have missed from our old house is the fireplace especially on cold snowy nights, we have been considering an electric fireplace but did not want just a fireplace we wanted one that we could put our tv on and had storage for movies znd stuff, well at meijer they had one on clearance and then our discount it was super cheap so we broughg it home so we could have it in time for the blizzard. Nothing better thsn sipping cocoa or coffee in front of a blazing fire real or not on a cold snowy night. I am sitting at the psychologists office waiting for Dave get done with his appointment while I blog from my phone and Alyx is at home assembling everything I can't wait to see it I Will post pics of it later as well.
I sit here thinking how my family and our life has come full circle and the one to thank is Our Lord God Almighty...
It is true if you givr everything over to the Lord he will have Mercy on you and answer your prayers. Our family has been to that dark place and when we surrendered to God he helped us see the light.
I will forever give him thanks and praise he is Worthy.
