Day 18: Something You Regret

There are a few things that I can say I regret but the biggest regret I have is not being able to say good bye to my Dad, he died suddenly 11 years ago this December 23rd. Taylor was only 6 weeks old. He never saw him. It saddens me on a daily basis and it has taught me that life is very short. He was not ill and was so excited for Christmas to be coming. And something that goes with that is that I regret not having a closer relationship with his side of the family. I was never "part" of that family by no fault of my own. My parents were not married and I was not an accepted part of that whole drama. I saddens me as my children are also missing out on that side of their extended family, Great- Grandparents and cousins and aunts. My Mom's side of the family is not huge and it would be so nice for the kids to have the experience of a big family. Don't get me wrong I have tried a couple times over the years but it has gotten me no where and I have adopted the attitude that what is meant to be is meant to be.

DAY 16  OUR DREAM HOME

This is so dreaming but this is what my fmaily dreams of when we buy our 2 lotto tickets every once in a while LOL The only thing we would change is enclosing the pool so we could use it no matter what the weather and Alyx and Taylor want a red little one room school house in the yard for school like the one pictured below

North Texas Ranch Paradise Near Dallas, Texas

Beautiful Home & Guest House Set on 89 Acres

Luxury Rural Living – Less Than 1 Hour from Dallas!

Perfect for the active family who enjoy the outdoors and love to entertain.

Also a great property for a corporate retreat or company vacation spot. The property offers a huge variety of recreational opportunities, 5-star living and entertaining facilities, and plenty of room to build additional lodging or a corporate conference center and meeting areas. Would also work great for a camp retreat for adults and/or children. The ranch offers a 2400' runway for small private aircraft and the McKinney airport is only 20 minutes away and offers complete jet service.

Situated on 89 beautifully-manicured acres, the property features multiple living facilities (over 7,000 sf under roof), a 2400' runway, ski lake, numerous stocked ponds, live running water and exotic game animals. This property would make the perfect retreat home to escape the stress of the city, but close enough to Dallas to make an easy commute to work or for shopping. No expense was spared in the construction of the facilities or the improvements made to the land. This is an incredible one-of-a-kind property.

The owners just completed a $1 million plus renovation. All the hardwood floors in the main home downstairs were replaced. There is a company in Maine that takes barnwood from actual old barns and turns the wood into the most incredible wood floors you have ever seen. These incredible wood floors are one-of-a-kind (at $60/sf)! Next, all the stone in the main home entryway, den and front office/gameroom has replaced with a beautiful new cut limestone - a new style that creates a clean and elegant look. A new closet makeover in the master bedroom has to be seen to be believed. The barn has been completely renovated with cedar walls, new flooring, built-in furniture - this once barn/office has become an upscale quest quarters complete with it's own bath and kitchen. The guest house downstairs received all new Whirlpool Gladiator flooring; upstairs a 450 gallon salt water aquarium was installed. 25 additional acres were purchased in July, 2009 to accommodate the construction of a 2400'runway and lake. You can fly in and fly out of this property -- nothing like landing in your own backyard! Also just completed is a regulation sand volleyball court, horsehoe pits, shuffleboard courts, 5 trap shooting stations around the lake - no shortage of recreational opportunities here!

A great place to live is also a great investment opportunity! Tejas Ranch is located in Collin County. Collin County is one of the fastest growing counties in Texas and is experiencing tremendous growth. Additionally, to accomodate the incredible growth in this sector, there is a proposed Collin County Outer Loop, which is a major thoroughfare that will connect the north end of the Dallas North Tollway to 75; and then on to Hwy 380, and then to the Rockwall County line. This proposed loop will run within 1 mile of this property, which could increase the value of this property considerably.

Exotic Game - Approximately 40-50 head of exotic game animals are for sale separately (not included in asking price). Exotic animals include Zebra, Elk, Water Buffalo, Antelope, Watusi (African longhorn), Gazelle, Scottish cattle and more.

Taxes: The current owner has an agricultural exemption on the property (except for 1 acre right around the main house. With this exemption in place total property taxes for 2010 are $6,912.43.

Please go to the files/video tour section of this listing. You can download a ranch features document, aerial photo of the entire ranch and a brochure. The ranch also has its own website in the virtual tours section of this listing.

Corporate Retreat Ranch ~ Company Vacation Ranch

Price: $4,500,000*

*The owner will also sell just the main home & guest house on 10 acres or 20 acres. The 20 acre option would include the barn/guest quarters. Prices for these options as follows:

House/Guest House on 10 Acres: $1,900,000

House/Guest House/Barn on 20 Acres: $2,300,000

Day 15: Bible Verse

Here are my 2  most favorites

Proverbs 30:18-19

There are three things that amaze me—

no, four things that I don’t understand:

how an eagle glides through the sky,

how a snake slithers on a rock,

how a ship navigates the ocean,

how a man loves a woman. (NLT)

1 Corinthians 13:4 -7

New International Version
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Day 14: A Picture You Love
I love all pictures I take obviously since I took them for a reason, they all have some meaning but here are a few of my favorites from this past year.

I love this picture as it signifies a deep bond between multiple generations, this is my kids with their Great-Grandma enjoying a day at the museum she was almost 90 in this picture.

I love this picture as it demonstrates the unbreakable bond between good friends, this is me  and my closest friends on a trip to Grand Rapids for a Red Hat Convention

I love catching my kids in motion, this is Taylor showing me his new trick when we got our trampoline in the spring, during our "Gym" time

I also love detail shots, the kind of picture where you do not realize how cool it is until you get home and blow it up on the computer, this was taken in May on a field trip with some home school friends to our local zoo.  I love how you can see moisture in his nose and all of his whiskers.

This is one of my favorites as it is all my kids laughing and having a good time together with their Dad and as my oldest entered high school and is often hard to get pics of all of them together with their Dad as my hubby works weekends when Nick is home from school.
Last but not least I love this picture taken this year the weekend of homecoming as it shows what a fine, loving young man my son is growing up to be and his adorable girlfriend who is already become part of our family. It signifies what is yet to be.

Day 12: What You Believe
I believe that God is the only one truly in control.
I believe in fate and that all things happen for a reason: Good or Bad
I believe in Heaven and Hell and that in order to get to Heaven you need to be right with GOD.
I believe that God knew what he was doing by allowing me to have my children early in life, as if I had waited I am sure they would not be here. Having been Diagnosed almost 4 years ago with MS I know I could not handle a small child now.
I believe that when doctors told me 4 years ago I would never walk again GOD had his hand on me and healed me through my new found faith and strength in the Lord.
I believe that after I was healed by God, I walked away from the Lord yet again, and it took several small family tragedies for me to find my way back to the Lord our GOD
I believe it was in God's plan to home school my children and wish I would have listened to what God was telling me many years ago instead of listening to many others telling me I could not home school.
I believe God gives us our strength to carry on every day.
I believe God has a plan for my family and it is a big one......
Every  day started with the Lord is a very good day.

First Things First Kurt and Brenda Warner Book review

Pin It Now!

I am all about true stories and happy endings after struggles and hardships and also a fan of anyone that helps others. Which is why I was drawn to this particular story "First things first" Kurt and Brenda Warner's story of their ups and downs of being parents of 7 kids all while juggling an NFL career and a foundation that helps disadvantaged youth.

Synopsis:

Kurt Warner is the two-time NFL MVP–winning quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals. Brenda Warner is an ex-Marine turned stay-at-home mom who collects coats for low-income kids and rocks babies to sleep at a hospital for chronically-ill infants. Together they’re the parents of seven, going into their 12th year of marriage, and founders of a foundation that helps disadvantaged children and families. Their formula for success? They put First Things First—family, faith, and giving to others—it’s their family motto, and it drives everything they do. First Things First is an honest, insightful, and entertaining look at life inside the Warner household. Kurt and Brenda speak candidly about their marriage, the values they are working to instill in their kids, things they’ve done right, mistakes they’ve made, the importance of giving back, and the legacy they hope to leave behind. Includes a 16-page full-color photo insert.

My thoughts continued:
I think it is so important in any family to teach kids to give to others that are less fortunate than yourself. I don't care how bad your life seems there is always someone less fortunate or worse off then yourself. It feeds the soul to help others. I try everyday to teach my kids that it is important to put God and others first. At the end of the day you will feel more at peace and closer to God.
I recommend this book to any family that is instilling the gift of giving in their family.

I was given a free review copy of the above book by Tyndale Publishing so I could facilitate my review I was in no way compensated in any manner and my review is completely unbiased .
