What has been happening around here lately!!

Pin It Now!   WHEW!! What a whirlwind month this has been. All of the fall "school" activities have begun and the roller coaster ride begins. The boys are doing very well this year and are excited to begin some new activities. The boys started Bowling 2 Fridays ago and are loving that. We have recently joined a new church and Alyx made the switch this past week to Powerhouse, the junior/senior high youth group. We also began Enrich which the boys are looking forward to their next class this coming Thursday. Alyx has also joined a local HS Boy Scout Troop and went on his first campout with them this past weekend. He loved it. I am so happy to see him blossoming socially this year, and I cannot help but think that without the added stress of school it helps him relax in smaller social settings. He is really enjoying being a pre teen, now if we could get Taylor to do the same, he is still very apprehensive about certain settings especially without Alyx there. This year is proving to be a real growth year for him, as the gap has widened between him and Alyx a bit more. Alyx moved to an older age group for both Church and Enrich and that is proving to be a little bit of a challenge. But we must let Alyx move forward and not hold him back because of this brother any longer. We will get through this with God's Grace.
As I stated we have joined a new Church and finally feel at home spiritually there, it is the perfect fit for our family and we all love attending Church Service there. Dave and I have also joined the Church Bowling League every other Friday Night. We cannot wait to go to our first one. I also attended a Ladies Retreat this weekend, I was so touched by the welcoming we have received and how everyone went out of their way to introduce themselves to me this weekend at the ladies function. We had such a great weekend of Worship and Fellowship and raising money for a great cause, Vision Hope. This is an organization that runs camp for abused and neglected foster kids. This is a cause near and dear to my heart, as my sister has adopted 2 foster kids. We had a wonderful speaker Sharon Swanepoel from God's Glory Ministries. She has a simply amazing voice and her and her husband are very inspirational evangelists.
Nick is gearing up for his first Homecoming. He is going with his girlfriend Ashley, I just love her to death and could not have hand picked another girl for him if I had tried myself. They have been going together for almost 5 months. They are going to his homecoming game and Parade and her Dance which is his old school. It was unfortunate that both dances fell the same night but this way he gets to celebrate with his old neighborhood friends.
The weather here has been a little strange one day 89 and the next 58 can you say GLOBAL WARMING, but I am so ready for the Fall Festivities but can I put an order in for 70 degree weather from now until May?? Just wondering?
Well I think that is all that has happened since my last update but who knows I may think of something later but I will save it for next time.
Hope you had a good week last week! What did you do fun?

"Big Red" Holy Bible - Contemporary 3-D Art by Thomas Nelson Publishers Review

Pin It Now!

We were given the opportunity to review "Big Red" Holy Bible 3-D Art by Thomas Nelson Publishers, this is a fantastic book for children of all ages but is recommended for kids 6-12. This book makes the Bible stories Pop to life in 3-D. This is the same "Big Red" Bible that we have trusted for over 25 years but has been brought up to date with a 3-D Design that engages the kids of the digital media age. My sons are huge Video Gamers and this was right up their alley.  Their favorite stories are Noah and the story of Adam and Eve which we just covered in our Home School Curriculum.  This really brings the stories to life and makes the kids feel as they are witnessing the stories of God's Word right before their very eyes. The text is in large type that makes it easy for even the earliest readers. The kids will love taking this Bible to Church on Sundays and being able to easily follow along with their very own Bible designed just for them.
I highly recommend this book for any Bible loving family with kids, this gives a unique spin on Bible Stories that we love to read over and over.

Wordless Wednesday Whistle While We Work

Pin It Now!   We love to crank up Klove on the computer and do our chores first thing in the morning so when we are done with school we are done for the day to have the afternoon to enjoy ourselves. Taylor has decided his favorite chore is cleaning the bathroom, especially the shower because he loves to use the Scrubbing Bubbles Extend A Clean Power Sprayer.

Crazy, Chaotic and Busy Need I say Anymore???

Pin It Now!  The last two weeks flew by in a blur of frenzied activities.
Nick started High School, we started full on school and are clipping along wonderfully, my kids are Loving MFW ECC and if we skip a day or part of a day we can easily double up the next day and keep on target. It is so much easier to do school and not have to create my own lesson plans fully like last year. MFW  leaves open opportunities to add in our own supplements and the kids love all the hands on activities in ECC
Nick's Girlfriend's Grandpa died so we had the funeral to attend to, Our GLR field trip and we also had Enrich Sign up last Thursday Night, the kids are so excited they got 2 out of 3 classes they really wanted so they are happy kids. Alyx will be taking Firehouse Grub, cooking for boys, Yearbook, and Dodge ball. Taylor will be taking Magic, Gym and Color and Mood art class, this will last for 8 weeks and then they will have new classes to sign up for. I am assisting in a girls Scrapbooking class and a science class. I am excited to see all of our home school friends again. It is always so nice to chat during my sub hour with all the other moms. The boys also started a bowling league last Friday. And tonight Boy Scout sign ups. I am so glad to see them wanting to be active it is very refreshing and shows me just how homeschooling has made them a little more adjusted. They can dive into things they want and when and not feel overwhelmed.
Daddy did School Thursday and Friday, I am still not sure how good of an idea that was but we all survived. I was at my friends with a group of us doing our annual garage sale. I made almost $200 so I was happy, it reimbursed for Enrich sign up and the boys sold enough old video games to buy a new one they wanted and Alyx bought a new skateboard, so everyone was happy.
I have to get back to our routine this week and will have giveaways posted by the end of the week, sorry I have been slacking it has just been nuts trying to get everyone into our school year routine.
Hope everyone is doing well with the beginning of their school year .

The Way Home DVD Review

Pin It Now!

I was so touched by this movie, based on a true story, a saga of a family, who in a blink of an eye their 2 yr old son goes missing while the father is to be watching him, and the mother is packing for a family vacation. In a desperate search they become overwhelm by the show of support from their neighbors and town, and realize that there are more people out there that love them and their family than they thought. Their Faith is tested but when the town gathers to help, their faith sees them through this ordeal to the end, their marriage is made stronger as a result and their Faith is strengthened as well. It shows us that if we just need to Trust in the Lord and he will carry us through.
My whole family enjoyed this, we used it as a family movie night event. This will be a movie that my family will enjoy watching over and over again.
In this day and age it is so hard to find family friendly movies that you do not have to screen ahead of time, this is a movie that you can sit and enjoy and not worry about language, violence or anything else.

Out Live Your Life by Max Lucado Book Review

Pin It Now!

Another fine publication from Max Lucado, this book was made in conjunction with the teen version I reviewed last week. This book is no exception to the marvelous writings Max had already written. This was a thought provoking piece, that lets you know that God wants you to fulfill your purpose above and beyond not only in Heaven but here on Earth too. There is such heart ache in this world, but each of us has the choice and obligation to make a difference one day at a time. Our family recently sponsored a child from World Vision after reading this book, it is our chance to make a difference to a child and their family even across the globe from us, and that in turn caused us to sign up to host a World Vision House Party, and we were selected!! Now we can reach out to others and share our story and get others to help those that cannot help themselves. You do not have to be rich to help others, it gives my family a heart full of Love and Pride knowing we are helping others, and it is in response to this book and what it brought out of me while reading it. It gave me conviction when I needed it most. It refreshed in my mind that God loves me and set me on this Earth with a purpose even though we may not always know what that purpose is. If you are struggling with your purpose or just need to refresh your mind and spirit of what God had in store for you, you must read this book, it will change the way you think and change your life. We are all God's children and all have purpose and it is our duty to find that purpose and Max Lucado can help you find that purpose.

Apple Charlies Picnic Lunch field trip 9/14 part 2

Pin It Now!
Our tour guide at GLR told us of a little Orchard down the road from their building so we took our lunch along with our friends over to the Orchard, we were excited to learn that the barn with the animals was free of charge, so I bought the kids a bag of feed to share amongst them to distribute to the animals and off we went after lunch, it was an absolutely glorious day of 75 degrees and complete Sunshine God Blessed us with so we should use it to our best advantage.

these Sunflower shots turned out Fantastic!! The were at least 10 ft tall
This was the largest bunny I have ever seen in my life, I would love to know what they feed it??
This was the bees going into a hive the farm had made out of an old window and put glass in the back so you could see the honeycomb but it was too hard to get a good shot of the back with how it was situated.

My Father's World ECC Week 1

Pin It Now!   This is one of the activities we did during ECC week 1, the kids thought this was fun and they got to eat part of the project. It was taking a mandarin orange and drawing the globe on it and then peeling it to make it flat like a map, this was to show the kids how hard it was for map makers to transfer the patterns on the globe to a flat map picture,

We also made posters for our memory verse for the week John 3:16
