Welcome to the 24th edition of

"Meet Me On Monday!"

Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?" I know them...but yet I don't know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday I will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

"Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!!!"....as quoted by the Chacogirl!! I will make this SIMPLE and FUN!!!

I will add a linky so we can follow who participates and get to know them better!! Be sure to link the POST and not just your whole blog!

1. What is your favorite way to eat chicken?

2. Have you decorated for Christmas yet?

3. What is your favorite article of clothing?

4. Do you pay your bills online or write checks the old way?

5. Do you make Christmas cookies?

My Answers!!

1. What is your favorite way to eat chicken?
Anyway that is not on the bone, I eat no meat on the bone, I know I have issues. If forced to eat meat on a bone I would be a vegetarian.
My Favorite is Chicken Picante

2. Have you decorated for Christmas yet?
Oh yes the outside was done beginning of last week while we had some unseasonably warm days (66 degrees in late November) and the Tree always gets done the day after Thanksgiving and this year was no exception.

3. What is your favorite article of clothing?
My Blue jeans definitely!!

4. Do you pay your bills online or write checks the old way?
I definitely pay online, I buy maybe 10 stamps a year LOL just to mail cards and things.

5. Do you make Christmas cookies?
Yes  we do and it is always a family affair and this year we are even participating in a couple cookie exchanges, starting with one at church for What's Cooking class.
The kids all love to help, although I enjoyed the task more when I had a bigger kitchen with an island but we make do and we may even do it in the classroom this year as we have much more table room.
We will have to see how that works.

The Classroom is finally painted !!

Pin It Now!   Well I finally got up the energy and ambition to move all the bookcases and such and paint the classroom so that after Christmas we can get that part of the basement carpeted, we are looking at a bright electric blue carpeting close to the color of the blue chairs
but here is the painted basement in progress as somethings need to still be put away and the posters and maps hung back up.

Let The Christmas Holidays Begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pin It Now!   Well things have been busy around our house gearing up for the Thanksgiving Holiday,on the 24th was the 17th Anniversary of my Grandpa Wayne's passing and it fell once again on Thanksgiving EVE, during the day we went to take his Grave Blanket out to the Cemetery and then went to lunch, that evening we went to our first Thanksgiving Eve Mass at our new church and it was fantastic and very moving, and I also thought very fitting considering the day, I personally saw God working on Nick's heart right there next to me, it moved me to tears and I thanked God right then and there and then again everyday since. It is wonderful and I am forever grateful for God's Grace and Healing for our whole family.
Gears are shifting and it is time to rev our engines for the month long celebration of Christmas, Our Savior's Birth. We must all sit back even through the hustle and bustle of the season of Merry and remember what this upcoming Holiday is really about. I know we are refocusing our family on what the true meaning of Christmas is and there is much less  emphasis being put on the retail aspect this year.   We are focusing more on family traditions old and new and that started with prepping our home for the holidays and making it festive and cozy both inside and out. We have decorated our yard with our decorations and also the ones papa gave Alyx this year many of which he made with his own hands and that was a huge deal for Alyx to be handed down these precious decorations. He has been working hard all week to get it just right and I think it may be done today so when it is all ready I will take and post some pics. He is very proud of his work.
Yesterday was the first time in many, many years I did not venture out to do any holiday shopping, in the past we have braved the cold and the crowds but in recent years I have suffered physically from the elements and its effects on my body and I made the conscious decision to put me first and not put my body through the agony as each year it is taking me longer and longer to come back from as MS attack. Why put myself through one on purpose. I did venture out Thanksgiving morning around 930 and put some items in layaway. I also did some online shopping yesterday as well. .So I am feeling a little accomplished and don't have much more to get done as far as presents go. The kids know that this year they are only getting a couple gifts and our family gift is coming this spring, we are getting a big permanent pool. We have had it in layaway since the end of the Summer and will get paid off with our Income Tax and is being installed the week before Memorial Day, we are all so excited.  Then my mom and I went to see You Again at the movies in the afternoon before dinner, then it was time to eat and then Trim the Tree time.

We have a busy month of Celebrating starting this week with our Enrich Family Holiday Pot Luck. Also next weekend we have Nick turning 14 on Saturday and I have my Red Hat Christmas Lunch, and My parents annual Christmas party as well.  Then the next week is Ladies Christmas Dinner and Tea at Church, My mom is even gonna go. Shocker there but I have faith and hope.
We have so much to be thankful for and we are so truly blessed in every aspect of our family, home and faith. We have found not only in the last year or so put GOD at the forefront of our life and family but we have bought our First HOME. We will grow old here and have our Grand kids visit us here and that is just wonderful to think of. We started home schooling this year and that was a wonderful journey to start with our family as well. We listened to God lead our heart and we found that when we do that GOOD Things do happen and that all things happen for a reason and  God truly does have a plan. AMEN
We  started small group Bible study a few months ago and also joined the Church Bowling league for fellowship as well. We have met the most awesome people through our Church and I truly believe it is because God led us there and we followed him.
Alyx and I started what's cooking at Church and we are loving that and we are doing a Christmas cookie exchange this coming month with that group.
My Mom and Step-Dad's Anniversary is coming up on the 21st they will have been married 26 years this year. I was in 3rd grade when they got married.
On the 23rd will be the Anniversary of my Father's Death and I cannot believe he has been gone 11 years.
I miss him so much it hurts but I "talk" with him often and know he is my boys' Guardian Angel.
Well this post went much deeper that I had prepared, but sometimes it is just good to get it all out. This year I am asking for BLOG 2 PRINT for my blog so that even though I scrapbook I will have all my thoughts in writing for my family as well considering I just stink at journaling.
One last thing we were recently blessed by getting "new" used furniture for FREE and I am loving my new living room set up. God truly does provide in our times of Need.
So here are some pics of how the living room is now rearranged partly for the new furniture and partly because the tree went up.
Have a great  start to your Christmas Season and I will be back soon with some reviews and giveaways.

we moved my large curio away from the wall by the front door to the corner near the hallway next to our "new" Tv stand (we ditched our huge wall unit which was not so sturdy after being moved 4 times over the years and since we had gotten it FREE on craigslist I say we got our money worth out of it.
Here is our "new" sectional recliner, sofa bed, we just need to get a full size sleeper mattress and we will be all set
                                         the smaller Tv unit
I got this Daily Portrait for hosting one of their parties but we have not had a wall to put it on until now, we have now hung it above our TV since the wall unit is not blocking the area
the smaller curio is in the corner behind the couch and this awesome tapestry I had picked up at a yard sale proudly adorns our wall
Well there you have it the life of our busy crazy family, but I would not have it any other way.
God Bless you all

I have been given another Blog Award Thank You Sheri

Pin It Now!

Thanks so much to Sheri over at What's in the box? for awarding me my newest blog award The Versatile Blogger. I am so honored to have been chosen by one of the greatest homeschool bloggers around. Thanks so much Sheri.
Guess the deal is I am to:

*Thank the person who gave it to me
*Tell 7 things about myself

*Select 15 newly discovered blogs (I am not going to do 15 but 5)

*and let them know they received it
Seven things about myself..... Does it have to be something ya'll don't know about me already LOL.

1. I went to school to be an elementary school teacher but never pursued it because my hubby and I made the conscience decision for me to be a SAHM. I always planned to go ahead with my career when my youngest started full time school. I guess I am  following that path just a different road. I am so happy teaching my kids... I wish I would not have let all those people talk me out of homeschooling for so many years and just followed my heart.

2. I was recently selected Swapper of the month for November on http://www.thehomeschoollounge.com/
and last week was the village visitor on http://www.thehomeschoolvillage.com/. I was honored to be the recipient of both.

3. We have moved 8 times in the almost 16 years we have been married and this time it was our final house as we are now Homeowners and lovin it.

4. My hubby and I were married 2x the first time in a chapel full of our closest family and friends and then 3 years later on our anniversary in our then home church (Catholic) by the deacon that baptized myself and all 3 of our kids. I was 8 months pregnant at our "2nd" wedding. I have 2 marriage certificates documenting this. We plan to renew our vows on our 20th anniversary in 3.5 yrs in our new home church.

5. We live on the same street we moved from several years ago on the same side of the street, 2 blocks down.

6. My husband and I went out at the encouragement of a friend and have been together ever since, we only dated 6 months before we were married.

7. I taught myself to sew several years ago and the weekend I learned to sew I made 6 pillows, 2 sets of curtains and 4 purses.

Well there you have it 7 random facts about myself and now it is time to nominate the 5 blogs I am passing this wonderful award onto.

Wow!! What A week!!!

Pin It Now!     Well for once I get to recap our week within the actual week in which it happened.  We had a busy weekend last weekend, It was my monthly Red Hat Lunch with my girls, Church on Sunday, Dinner at my parents Sunday evening and then of course Monday was Taylor's 11th Birthday. So no school for us it was a holiday in our house. Taylor got taken out to Breakfast by his Nana and Papa, while he was gone I went to get his cake, then we all went out to lunch at Taylor's Favorite place Sho Gun and had so much to eat that everyone was too full for cake. SO we came home, waited a while ate dinner and then headed to Nana and Papa's for Cake to finish celebrating the day.
Tuesday was a jam packed day of school we are about 2 weeks behind and need to get caught up if we have any hopes of taking December off for the Holidays. My hope at the beginning of the year was to stay on Target so that when Nick broke from school for Thanksgiving we would be done until January. But I did not anticipate Starbase and some sickness and other things so Now we are buckling down and doing several days at a time. The good news is the boys have been staying caught up with Math so we are on Target for that and we also do our Bible each day so we are on task for that is well. So the only catch up we are doing is Social Studies, Science and Language Arts so it should not be too hard, the kids were very motivated in Tuesday so we accomplished 4 days worth of work in our school slotted time so I felt accomplished.
Tuesday night was our small group and we had a blessed time as usual.
Wednesday the boys were both out of sorts so we did just the basics and then took an afternoon nap.  Wednesday night was Church, Powerhouse and Royal Rangers so it was another busy evening.
Thursday was our final day of enrich for the Fall Semester, Next week is registration is next week for Winter session but it does not start up until January. SO a break from that for a while and that will also give us back a day to do our school work as we do not do school on Enrich days either.
Thursday evening was Moms Night out with friends I won tickets to Grosse Pointe Theater so we went out to dinner then headed out to the play. It was "Annie get your gun" and it was great, but long. We did not get out until 10:45 then I had to drop everyone home, on my way from dropping the last person off I got a phone call from the kids that our bunnies that we thought were both females had 5 babies. I was shocked and then full of worry about what to do to keep them safe, thankfully we found a second cage to put the daddy in, after we figured out which one that might be.
Today was school in the am then we headed to a church rummage sale to seek out some items on our need list.
and to end the exciting busy week and start the weekend I am heading out to scrapbook this whole weekend with the ladies from my small group I am so excited I have not scrapped in well over a year, and I am hoping this gets me motivated again. I am hoping to make a small book for my Mom for Christmas and also start a 12 x 12 for our Home school adventures. I figure it will be easier to get back in the groove starting a new small project that will be easy to complete and also get current on and then start back to where I left off before. Which is I do not even remember.  So I will be checking in again Sunday evening sometime.
Have a great weekend everyone and have a Blessed day.

Holy Baby Bunnies Batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pin It Now!    So remember when I showed you our new classroom pets, Butterscotch and Midnight. Well after a night out to a play with friends last night i got a very excited phone call from all my kids alerting me to the fact that our supposedly both Female bunnies had 5 baby bunnies. Are you kidding me right now?? SO I really thought they were pulling my leg, but low and behold I got home and here were 5 little furless piglet looking baby animals. They are only about 2 1/2 inches long they are cute and tiny but this presented a whole new problem as we needed to get Dad out of the cage and quick. SO very carefully we quickly determined who the Dad is, it is Midnight by the way and we have him separated from his Wife and kids.
Look how cute they are

Give your child the help they need with writing with Steps 4 Kids

Pin It Now!

As a mother of 2 special needs sons I have watched my boys struggle with the a task that many of us take for granted, writing. Taylor in 6th and Alyx even in 7th grade after many years of therapy had illegible printing, that is until we started using Steps4kids. Whether your child is small and just beginning the stages to learn to write or your child is special needs like my kids and just struggles to find something that works to help them catch up to their peers then you need to check out this program for your kids. You will be so glad you did.
Here is what the company says about their product...
