Summer Field Trip Fun

Pin It Now!   As any Home School family knows, learning does not only happen when we are "doing school". Learning happens all day long especially when an awesome opportunity presents itself. We recently were given the wonderful opportunity to share a learning adventure field trip with some fellow home school friends. My Brother in law owns a robotics shop where they repair industrial grade robots so when I found out they were getting a large shipment of robots in I asked if I could bring the boys and invite some friends as well, and he was so receptive, although being the parent to 7 kids, 4 of which are boys, large groups of kids do not scare him away in the least. So 2 of my friends Heather, and Lindsay and the 9 kids between us, Nick stayed home or it would have been 10 headed out to Macomb Twonship for a day filled with Learning, Fun, Friendship and Fellowship. God smiled upon us and gave us the most pleasant of Summer days to enjoy this all. We were starting off our day at the Robotics shop, where the kids learned how the robots are fixed, what they are used for, how they are tested and what the control panel looks like and how it controls the robots and also all of the safety features that are involved with the controls to assure no accidents happen while working on or running the robots and the most exciting part to all of the kids was they got a chance to run the controls and operate a real working industrial robot. Not just anybody gets to do that and they finished up the tour pretending to operate the hi lo that brings the robots in and out of the shop.We left the Robotics shop and continued on our journey of finishing up the remainder of the day at a local park with a picnic lunch and letting the kids run off some energy and letting the Moms chat it up a bit. The day could not have turned out any better than I could have hoped for, the kids all got along wonderfully and we all enjoyed the beautiful weather by ending our outing on the Nature Trail at the park. We would like to say a special Thanks to Jim for allowing all of us to ascend upon your shop, but really truly enjoyed our visit. Thank YOU again so much. Here is our day in pictures for you.. Enjoy.
