CLOSED Handstand Kids Cookbook Review and giveaway ENDS July 7th 2010

Pin It Now!   My kids and I love to cook, and look for any excuse to bring us together in the kitchen, so when we happened upon this great company called Handstand Kids Cookbooks we were so elated when they allowed us the opportunity to review their products and share our thoughts with you, our readers, I am also so excited to be able to share with you the opportunity for you to win your very own Handstand Kids Cook Book set of your own.
One of our favorite things to cook is Mexican, so we were thrilled when we were sent the Mexican Kids Cook Book set.  There are several other kits including, Italian and Chinese. They also sell several accessories other than those I am going to talk about here, like a cute as a button chef hat and Apron and also an all purpose kitchen mat.
The set came with the cutest packaging the cookbook and the adorable oven mitt came in a tortilla looking package, I mean how cute is this?

The oven mitt is perfect size for the little chef in your life.

The illustrations on the cover of the book and inside are so adorable and they are bright and vivid colors.
The ease of the directions make it easy to follow for even the youngest of children, although you must always provide adult supervision when children are in the kitchen and cooking.
They will feel as though they are a real chef.
My favorite part of this kit, the educational place mat, that we used as a cooking mat for our prep work, like cutting the vegetables and things like that.
On one side there is a map of the country that relates to your kit. The coolest feature of this side is not the map but the Spanish words going around the outside, so you can teach, cooking, and kitchen safety and geography, ethnic studies and also foreign language all while spending time in the kitchen. How often can you do that without your child realizing how much they are learning because they are having so much fun.

On the other it introduces your child to the Handstand Kids, Izzy,Felix,Gabby,Marvin and Ari.

Our favorite recipe to make from our Handstand kids cookbook is.....chicken and cheese burritos
My kids had never so much as tried anything Mexican  but Tacos and Fajitas before we got this cookbook now they beg us to try a new recipe all the time.  My kids are not very adventurous eaters so this has been a huge deal around our house.

Here are some facts taken from the Handstand Kids website...

The Handstand Kids Cookbook Company creates international cookbook kits that introduce children to the culture, language, and cuisine of a new country. Each cookbook kit is uniquely packaged with a cooking accessory: The Handstand Kids Italian Cookbook is packaged in a pizza box with a chef's hat; The Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook comes in a tortilla bag with a child-sized oven mitt; and The Handstand Kids Chinese Cookbook is packaged in a take-out box with a set of chopsticks.

The five Handstand Kids are featured throughout the series: kid chefs can follow along as Felix, Izzy, Ari, Gabby and Marvin learn about the recipes, culture and language of a new country. The Handstand Kids offer helpful hints about cooking for special diets and finding ways to use cooking skills to support the community. They are a diverse bunch with varied interests so kids can easily relate to the characters. Felix is a vegetarian, Izzy is a picky eater and loves to cook for his diabetic sister, Ari uses her cooking skills to volunteer at kid's charities, Gabby is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English, and Marvin is an aspiring chef.

In addition to exploring the delicious recipes of a different country, our cookbooks also offer children an introduction to the country's language. All of the ingredients and utensils are translated in to the country's primary language, and these translated words are used in the recipes to help kids learn the language as they cook.

The Handstand Kids Cookbook Company also offers cooking classes and private cooking lessons that bring the series to life. Join us at one of our many workshops, where Handstand Kids chefs introduce kids and their caretakers to yummy recipes using organic ingredients.

The Handstand Kids Cookbook Company aims to use international cooking to create a global community of children and empower kids to take a stand in their own community. Cooking is a fantastic way to promote health and nutrition, explore different cultures, encourage family togetherness and give to others in need. Our books, newsletters and website introduce children to a variety of charitable organizations and show them how they can use their new cooking abilities to help others.

The Handstand Kids motto is "Traveling the world, one recipe at a time." So join us on our adventure around the world by getting your own Handstand Kids Cookbook today!

You can purchase your very own Handstand Kids cooking set by visiting their website http://handstandkids.com/order.html because I know you are going to want to purchase one of each of these awesome sets or they have a great Gift basket ready to give to that special little chef in your life.
