CLOSED Wiglington and Wenks Review and Giveaway (5 Winners)

Pin It Now!

This giveaway is now closed winners will be posted June 4th 2010

We had the delightful opportunity to review The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks Virtual World . We were given a complimentary 3 month premium membership to this wonderful online learning community. This was a great asset to be added into our social studies curriculum for the rest of this school term. There is so much to accomplish in this virtual world that my kids are truly enjoying learning about historical figures.

Not only did my kids benefit from learning about historical figures but they also learned about landmarks and customs of other countries by virtually traveling to other countries. All the while playing fun games, earning money to buy an island to build their home and buy items they need to live and succeed in this virtual life. They attended the Academy to learn the history of this world and then pass a test to earn their passport.

They could safely chat with other travelers while in the world by using preselected chat terms, I was so at ease after viewing all the safety features that are in place for kids safety.
After they earned their passport they were off to help find lost historic figures in distant lands. All along the way collecting lost artifacts and finding treasures to place in their wiki.

The boys love to play this and I am not sure they realize just how much they are learning by playing this online game. They just know they are getting more computer and Internet time and I do not harp at them to get off the computer. It is a wonderful website and I will be continuing our membership after the review one has expired. This is so neat to be able to see the kids having fun while learning important social studies lessons.

Here are some key facts about Wiglington and Wenks from their website.
1. What is The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks Virtual World?

In a nutshell, The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks Virtual World (WW) is an exciting new massive online virtual world for kids aged 7 to 14.

It promises an experience in which players will be able to travel to places around the world, through time and space, meet famous historical people, play dozens of fun enriching games, make new friends, buy exotic islands, build culture-inspired houses, wear clothes from different countries, explore secret locations, solve mysteries and become a legendary traveler!

Kids follow a plot where they travel around the world to locate and help a group of historical people who have come to the present era through a time warp regain their lost memories.

Parents can look forward to an educational and safe site for their kids where they will be learning about history, geography, landmarks, famous people, inventions, animals and more.

And for the kids, they can expect hours of interactive and exploration fun.WW was originally a children story book series by veteran businessman John Bittleston, later adapted into a virtual world for kids by creative entrepreneur Aldric Chang and Ngo Chee Yong.

2. How is WW different from the rest of the other virtual worlds?

WW offers a rich storyline and engaging characters which add depth and dimension to the virtual world. Kids don’t just plunge into un-purposeful game play as they are compelled to read and understand the missions accorded to them. In the process, they cultivate a sense of responsibility and absorb the knowledge infused into the missions.

To the best of our knowledge, no other virtual world for kids comes close to us in terms of size, graphics and features. WW contains over 100 different locations, more than 50 games and a vast amount of information on historical people, animals, plants, inventions, items, architectures and countries. All these will be rolled out in 2010 and even more to follow later.

3. What are the educational aspects of WW?

WW is very focused on expanding a child’s general knowledge and encouraging their creativity, thus many of our features and games are designed towards these goals. You can find out more over here.

4. What are the key features of WW?

Features and content that encourage creativity and learning in a fun way form the backbone of WW. A rich storyline, the showcase of different countries and cultures, a travel wiki that contains information on important things the child comes across during his exploration, the ability to decorate islands and build houses are all features geared towards this. You can find out more over here.

5. Is WW safe for kids?

Absolutely! WW is a strong advocate of practicing safety on the Internet and we have developed a number of proprietary safety features to protect kids from bad influences and harm. You can find out more over here.

6. Why is there a Membership if WW is ‘free to play’?

By making WW free to play for everyone, there are development and operational costs we have to shoulder. By offering a subscription which offers premium features and services to Members, we can offset these costs and continue producing quality content for the virtual world.

7. What features are Members entitled to?

Generally, Members will gain access to premium features that require more server bandwidth and maintenance on a regular basis. To find out more, click here.

8. How much does it cost to be a Member?

We offer many Membership packages – ranging from 10-day passes to annual subscriptions and the prices vary from US$2.99 to US$59.99. You can find out more over here.
